Types of Splices

The splicing method appropriate for individual applications depends on the belt types used and the operating conditions.

In addition to splice reliability, flexibility of the splice and the effort required for fabrication are decisive criteria for the selection of the splicing method.

HOT PRESSING

A hot-pressed splice provides the highest longlasting and flexibility. Available splice systems:

  1. Z-SPLICE: Meets the most rigorous requirements for uniformity of thickness. Very flexible splice, required particularly for knife-edge belts. Standard splice for 1 and 2 ply belt tyoes. Splice angle 90° (available as well at 60°)
  2. STEPPED Z SPLICE:uqual properties to those of Z splice. it is suitable in case of rugged operation conditions (e.g. soiled drums). Possible for several 2 and 3 ply belt types. Splice angle 90°
  3. WEDGE SPLICE: suitable for solid non woven fabric and multi-ply conveyors. Splice angle 90°
  4. STEPPED OVELLAP SPLICE: especially for 2 and 3 ply conveyors with duroplastic coatings

COLD PRESSING: it is possible to cold press WEDGE 3) or STEPPED OVERLAP 4) splices in case of fitting repair works on site. These splices has limitated strenght and flexxibility

MECHANICAL FASTENERS

  • fast fit and remove of the belt, whitout disassembling machine components;
  • fast belt repairing by inserting a pice of belt material;
  • make belts endless quickly and easily (using the adeguate equipment)

TYPES:

  1. Wire hook fasteners: stainless and antimagnetic.
  2. Clamp fastner: specially suitable in case of hard mechanical strenght. Stainless or normal.
  3. Plastic fastners: also available optionally imbedded or heated into the belt coating. Specially suitable in the food industry and when employed together with metaldetecto. White polyester, FDA compliant.
